• Theodore Castro-Santos： Research Ecologist, United States Geological Survey - Leetown Science Center. Conte Anadromous Fish Research Laboratory.

  His main research areas cover agriculture and forestry science, environmental science, biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, computer science, and other fields. Research focuses on Sprint-swimming performance of migratory and riverine species; Effects of turbulence on swimming performance, biomechanics, and behavior; Modeling fish passage through culverts; Bioenergetics models of anadromous fish migration.

  
• Zhiqun (Daniel) Deng (Chair)： Laborary Fellow, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory; Adjunct Professor, University of Michigan, USA

  Dr. Deng is a Laboratory Fellow in the Energy & Environment Directorate at PNNL. He directs the Bio-Acoustics & Flow Laboratory, an accredited multi-disciplinary R&D laboratory, addressing a broad range of engineering and ecological issues, with an emphasis on environmental monitoring and risk assessment for hydropower, wind, marine, and hydrokinetic energy systems. He has developed several licensed technologies in acoustic telemetry, environmental sensing, and energy storage.

  
• Marie-Pierre Gosselin： Senior Research Scientist, Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA), Norway

  Marie-Pierre Gosselin has 15 years international experience in research and consulting in Ecohydraulics, particularly on the effects of flow regime alteration on river hydromorphological processes, fish and freshwater mussel ecology and habitat use, and environmental flows. She is past member of the IAHR Technical Committee on Ecohydraulics and is currently a member of the IEA Hydro Annex 19 on Hydropower and Fish.

  
• Paul Kemp： Professor of Ecological Engineering, University of Southampton, UK

  Paul Kemp is a Professor of Ecological Engineering at the University of Southampton. His research relates to understanding the complex systems linked to integrated natural resource management, particularly in relation to marine and freshwater fisheries, and how shocks (e.g. infrastructure development, climate change, pandemics) can influence those systems. Specific applications relate to how understanding of the behavioural ecology of fish can help solve challenges in sustainable water and energy engineering, particularly on how the physical environment influences the behaviour and physiological performance of fish, and how manipulation of that environment by engineering means can be used to mitigate for negative impacts of water and energy resource development.

• Lisiane Hahn： Research Director, Neotropical Environmental Consulting, Brazil

  Lisiane is a Brazilian biologist and technical director of Neotropical Environmental Consulting Company. Her work and research interests in the last 15 years are focus on the investigation of fish migration in South American rivers, especially in the Amazon basin, employing technologies such as radio and acoustic telemetry. She also leads the studies about the performance of fish passages in largest dams in Brazil. Lisiane has M.S. in Zoology and PhD in Freshwater Ecology

  
• Alison Colotelo： Hydropower Program Lead, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Richland

  Alison Colotelo is a senior research scientist and project manager. She leads PNNL’s Water Power System Science and Engineering team. Colotelo has over 10 years of professional experience that includes basic and applied research, as well as project management. Her work involves building and working with multi-disciplinary teams that tackle a diverse set of problems for the US Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Defense (DOD). In addition to her technical work, Alison enjoys sharing her passion for science with the community through visits to local schools and participation in other outreach activities.

  
• Isabel Boavida： Research Assistant，Associação do Instituto Superior Técnico para a Investigação e Desenvolvimento, Portugal

  Isabel Boavida is an Assistant Researcher at CERIS, where she has been developing work under the strategic research lines of Ecohydraulics. IB research interests lies in understanding the effects of hydropower plants in freshwater system with focus on fish populations and propose actions to mitigate those impacts. She has been developing research in the laboratory using CFD models and other innovative tools, such as bio-inspired sensors and video image, to understand fish-responses in laboratory environment. IB is a Guest Editor for the Sustainability Journal and River Research and Application, and has been a reviewer for more than 15 ISI international journals.

  
• Hersília Santos： Professor, Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG), Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil

  Hersília Santos is Full Professor in Civil Engineering Department at Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais (Brazil) since 2007. My research focuses on ecohydraulic issues in neotropical freshwater system, acting on fish passages models (numerical and scale models); fish swimming capability (voluntary and non-voluntary tests); river models (2D and 3D numerical models) and fish habitat suitability.

  
• Ana T. Silva： Senior Research Scientist, Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA), Norway

  Ana T. Silva is broadly interested in ecohydraulics and anthropogenic changes to aquatic systems, fish passage engineering, effects of turbulence on fish behaviour and swimming performance and energetic costs, ecology and fish conservation and restoration, fish physiology, fish evolution and behaviour, biomechanics of fish, hydrodynamics, hydropower impacts on eels, re-establishment of eels populations.

  
• Zhang Yunchang： Inspector of Ministry of Water Resources Three Gorges Project Management Department, China

  Zhang Yunchang is vice director of the public awareness and public relations working committee for reservoir dams of the Chinese Society of Dam Engineering, and part-time professor at Hohai University. Engaged in the construction and operation management of the Three Gorges Project for a long time. Main research directions: forest ecology, water ecology, and water engineering management.

  
• Richard Piaskowski： Senior Biologist, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District

  Richard Piaskowski, a Fish Biologist with the USACE Portland District has been chosen as a participant for this detail program. Piaskowski serving as a Fish Biologist for the Environmental Resources Branch, Fish Passage Section. As a Subject Matter Expert, Piaskowski guides the Portland District on projects affecting endangered species and natural resources, collaborating with engineering and other disciplines to manage fish passage, water quality, and aquatic habitats.

  
• Sterling M. Watson： Principal Engineer, Natel Energy, Alameda, California, USA

  Sterling is the lead of fish-safe turbine design at Natel Energy. Her technical focus includes developing and conducting turbine performance assessment procedures, and utilizing data to inform high-performance, fish-safe turbine and hydropower plant designs. Sterling holds bachelors and masters degrees from MIT.

• Prof. Chang Jianbo (Chair)： Director of the Hydroecology Research Institute, School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering, Wuhan University

  Chang Jianbo, Ph.D., is a professor in fish ecology and conservation biology research, leading the Institute of Hydeoecology of the School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering at Wuhan University. He was once a fundamental and 1st – 2nd board member of the World Sturgeon Conservation Society (WSCS) and the International Society for River Science (ISRS). He is recently a board member of the Ecological Society of China (ESC), a board member of the Chinese National Committee on Large Dams (CHINCOLD), and the Chairperson of the Committee of Fish Passage Facilities of CHINCOLD. He had been the chief scientist of both the major program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Basic Research Program of China, coordinating research on human impact on river ecosystems and endangered species conservation. He is recently the chief scientist of a National Key Research and Development Program of China focusing on restoring fish passages all along the main channel of the Yangtze River.

  Shi Xiaotao, National Outstanding Youth, Professor, Vice Dean of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering College of China Three Gorges University, Head of the Hubei Province Innovation Group and Excellent Young and Middle aged Innovation Team, Deputy Director of the Fish Crossing Facilities Special Committee of the Chinese Society of Dam Engineering, serving as the Scientific Editorial Board Member of journal Fisheries, Deputy Editor in Chief of journal Hydroecology and Engineering, Editorial Board Member of Journal of Water Resources and Waterway Engineering, and Journal of Hydrobiology, Journal of Fisheries of China. He has visited the University of California, Davis, University of Washington, USGS Migratory Fish Research Center, and University of Manitoba in Canada; in charge of 6 National Natural Science Foundation projects, and won 6 provincial and ministerial level scientific research awards, including the first prize of Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked first); win prize (ranked first) for teaching achievements in Hydroengineering in higher education institutions by the China Water Resources Education Association.

  
• Prof. An Ruidong： Deputy Director, Institute of Ecology and Environment, State Key Laboratory, Sichuan University

  AN Ruidong, a Professor at Sichuan University, specializes in ecohydraulics research and has been conducting continuous work in fields such as fish passage in high dam projects and habitat protection in mountainous river. He serves as the deputy director of the hydraulics professional committee of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society and the deputy director of the professional committee for fish passage facilities of the China National Committee on Large Dams. He has received funding from the National Natural Science Foundation's Excellent Young Scientists Fund, is a young scientific and technological talent of the Ministry of Water Resources, and is a leading academic and technical expert of Sichuan Province. He also serves as an editorial board member of the Journal of Hydrodynamics.

  
• Prof. Xu Mengzhen： tenured Associate Professor and vice head of the School of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua University.

  Her research explores the interfaces between hydraulics, sediment, structures, and aquatic organisms, and their application in river uses and ecological restoration. She has been PI of over 20 research projects supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MSTC), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and industrial institutions. She has published more than 70 SCI-indexed papers and more than 20 EI-indexed papers in mainstream journals, published 3 Chinese monographs and 1 English monographs, participated in the writing of another 2 Chinese monographs and 1 English monographs, led the editing of 4 standards of Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, and approved 15 national invention patents. Her fundamental findings on effect of streambed sediment on benthic ecology and environmental-friendly eco-hydraulics techniques on controlling freshwater mussel fouling in water transfer tunnels have been recognized by the scientific community and rewarded the Award of Outstanding Contribution to Sedimentation Studies of the World Association of Sediment and Erosion Research (WASER), the John F. Kennedy Award of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR), and the first prize of Dayu Water Science and Technology Award, etc. In recognition of her contributions in fundamental research and application in eco-hydraulics and eco-sedimentation, she was honored with the National Outstanding Young Talent Program, the Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program of China Association for Science and Technology, Beijing Water Conservancy Society Young Talent Program. She also serves as an Executive Associate Editor of Environmental Science & Ecotechnology (IF=14.0), Associate Editor of Journal of Ecohydraulics (IF=4.6), and Leadership Member of Ecohydraulics Committee of IAHR, Council Member of WSAER, and Member of the Academic Exchange and Periodical Publication Special Committee of the 10th Standing Committee of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, Deputy chairman of the Youth Science and Technology Working Committee of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, Deputy chairman of the Technical Committee of Reservoir Sediment Treatment and Resource Utilization of the Chinese National Committee on Large Dams.

  
• Prof. Yang Wenjun： Vice Dean, Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute

  Dr. Wenjun YANG, professorate senior engineer, is the vice president of Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute. He has been engaged in the research of engineering hydraulics and ecological water conservancy for decades, and is committed to solving key technologies of river connectivity restoration, sediment transport via dam, flow measurement in major water conservancy and hydropower projects. He has undertaken and completed more than 100 research projects. He has published more than 150 papers and authorized 37 invention patents. He holds a number of national or provincial S&T progress awards, including 1 nos of first prize and 2 nos of second prize in National S&T Progress Award, 13 nos of first prize in provincial S&T progress awards.

  
• Prof. Mu Xiangpeng： Chinese National Committee on Large Dams- Professional Committee on Fish Passage Facilities

  Born in August 1979,Mu Xiangpeng holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Tianjin University. He is currently the Deputy Director of the Department of Hydraulics at the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, a Senior Engineer, and a Ph.D. supervisor. He serves as a Director of The Society for Ecological Rehabilitation of Beijing, Secretary-General of its Water Ecology Restoration Committee, a Director of China National Committee on Large Dams, and Secretary-General of its Fish Passage Facilities Committee. His research fields include hydraulic engineering for water diversion projects, ice hydraulics, and ecological hydraulics. He has led four projects under the National Key Technologies R & D Program of China and three projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), while also participating in several national key projects such as the 973 Program and water-related research projects. His work has contributed to major water projects, including the hydraulic regulation of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project (Eastern and Middle Routes) and urban river ecological restoration. Mu's research has won three first-class provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, as well as the Special and First-Class Technology Progress Awards from the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research. To date, he has published three monographs, one translated work, over 80 papers, and holds more than 30 patents and 9 software copyrights. He has also contributed to two national standards and one industry standard.

  
• Prof. Zuo Qitin： Director of Water Science Research Center, Zhengzhou University

  Zuo Qiting is a professor at Zhengzhou University. He studies water resources and environment in China, and has led 61 research projects, published 18 academic monographs and more than 530 academic papers. He is the founder of the human-water relationship discipline and human-water harmony theory. Prof. Zuo began to study the issue of human-water relationship harmony in 2005 and has been a leading scholar in this area. He first proposed the term “human-water harmony theory” in 2009. In 2019, he established the theoretical system of human-water harmony theory. He published the book Human-water Harmony Theory and Its Application in 2020, which has been used as a textbook for graduate students. In 2021, Prof. Zuo founded the human-water relationship discipline. In 2023, he published the first monograph titled Human-water Relationship Discipline. Prof. Zuo holds several academic affiliations, including Director of the Water Resources Committee of the China Society of Natural Resources, Vice Chairman of the China National Committee of International Water Resources Association, Executive Director of the China Society of Natural Resources. He is also a member of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) and the International Water Association (IWA). Additionally, he serves on the editorial boards of more than ten academic journals such as Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, Advances in Water Science, and Journal of Water Resources and Water Engineering.

  
• Prof. Zhao Jinyong： Senior Engineer，Secretary-General，Committee of Ecological Hydraulic Engineering, China Society of Hydraulic Engineering

  senior engineer, PhD supervisor, a head of a research office and assistant to the Director of the Department of Water Ecology and Environment of China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, the secretary-general of the Committee of Ecological Hydraulic Engineering branch at the Chinese Hydraulic Engineer Society, and a member of the Subcommittee on Protection and Restoration of the Natural Resources and Territory Spatial Planning. He mainly engages in scientific research and practical work in the fields of ecological hydraulic engineering, river ecological restoration, and watershed water resources protection and water environment governance. He has led dozens of project topics, including National Science and Technology Support Projects, the crucial special projects: National water pollution control and management science, Public Welfare Projects of the Ministry of Water Resources, and National Natural Science Foundation of China projects. He has also served as the chief editor of the Ministry of Water Resources industry standard "Technical guidelines for river - lake ecosystem conservation and restoration engineering " (SL/T800-2020). He has won numerous awards, including the Excellent Achievement Award for Basic Research of the Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research on its 60th anniversary, the First Prize of Dayu Water Science and Technology from the Ministry of Water Resources, and the Second Prize of the Excellent Urban and Rural Planning Design Award of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
